Our Mission
The Yellow Springs Arts Council Emerging Artists Program recognizes active and regional, early career visual artists in any media. The intent of the program is to cultivate, support, and amplify these new voices of creative endeavor and give them increased exposure through an exhibition highlighting their art.

Eligibility
An emerging artist may be at the early stages of receiving recognition for their work but is currently underrepresented through exhibitions that might bring their work to wider attention. Because the concept of emergence in the arts does not invariably correlate with a specific age or other quantifiable terms, the YSAC requires applicants to briefly describe why they perceive themselves to be at an emergent point in their career and how they anticipate this award will further their objectives. Final selection of Emerging Artists will be determined by the Acceptance Committee based, in part, on artist’s response to questions, skill level, originality of the work, quality of execution, and unique artist voice.
Additional Criteria
Artist’s attendance is requested at the exhibit opening and they are each encouraged to participate in a short artist talk. Artists are also required to submit a short reflective statement about their experience in the program to be included in YSAC Annual and Grant Reports. Images and application materials are retained by YSAC and may be used as promotional material for the YSAC Emerging Artist Program and other promotional materials. All work must be delivered framed, mounted or otherwise ready to hang or display. Artists must provide an inventory and price summary. All sales will be handled by YSAC.
