Culbertson's current work has its focus in ceramics, creating functional and sculptural pieces of stoneware fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln in her studio. Much of her work reflects an appreciation of natural objects. Other pieces highlight her appreciation of color and vibrancy using underglazes to render images on bone dry clay. She especially loves throwing bowls and uses her skills to improve community, regularly participating in Wittenberg's Empty Bowls Program which supports the Second Harvest Food Bank. Culbertson is a member of TAG, the Textile Art Group of Yellow Springs. Every other year, Culbertson joins artisans of this group in exhibiting her collection of handmade scarves, shawls and handbags at the Winds. She appreciates natural fibers, enjoys spinning yarn to use in the warps strung on the 40 inch Macomber loom and enjoys the creative design process.

The core of Bette's artistic philosophy is that "Art Saves Lives:" If we surround ourselves with beauty in all facets of our lives, the quality of our lives will increase and the world will become a better place. Color is the driving force behind her artwork with nature a frequent source of inspiration. Capturing the “essence” of a place she's been, something she's seen or felt, and expressing that essence through color and stitch is the objective. These works include portraits, expressions of emotion and feeling, and impressions exhibited by the use of color, texture and pattern. Studio hours by appointment

Celise makes stuff: quilts, dolls, teddy bears, Christmas ornaments, clothing, jewelry or whatever else strikes her fancy. Her work references the traditional media but always with an original twist. She finds beauty in the humble and the everyday, finds new ways to look at the things seen so often they are often no longer really seen. She prefers to make work that is (or at least could be) functional--quilts are meant to snuggle up under, for example, no matter how beautiful they are.

Currently her illustrations are created by digitally painting on a computer. Driven by a need to create, there is always something in progress: drawing, weaving, sewing, quilting, collage or doll making, Moulton's main focus is on her characters, who continue to insinuate their way into her mind. She is on the YSAC Gallery Committee and the Glen Helen Gallery Committee. She sells her work at Village Artisans and the Yellow Springs Artist Studio Tour.
