In 2014 and 2015, local folk artist Anna Burke held a monthly summer series of art workshops for up to 15 children aged 8 – 12 years old. Teaching, application, and activities sends your child home with a greater knowledge of fine art and a piece of their own! Your child can attend one or many; each workshop stands alone, just pay as you go. The $10 per-workshop fee includes snacks and supplies. The fee must be paid at the start of each workshop.

Past Education Projects

Project Peace: Confronting Bullying through Art
Mills Lawn Elementary School Artist Residency 2013

YSAC partnered with Mills Lawn School to explore social equality and mediation for K-6th Grade students. Under the guidance of the school counselor, teachers and YSAC resident artists, students explored bullying and peace education. The project concluded with a series of three paintings displaying historic peacemakers, along with symbols and statements of peace. Deb Housh, then YSAC’s Manager and Education Coordinator, said, “We’re working together to extend the social justice message beyond the school walls and to help students view themselves as agents for change.”
